Margaret Atkinson was born in 1783 at Hawterley, Bilsdale, Yorkshire, the daughter of Stephen and Ann Atkinson. She was baptised on 15 June 1783 at St Hildas, Bilsdale. Both her parents die early in Margaret's life. In Ann Atkinson's Will, she gives guardianship of Margaret to her own mother Ann Atkinson and also Elizabeth Grey.

Margaret married John Sunley in Helmsley on 28 Jan 1806. They had the following children

Stephen Atkinson was born in 1759 in Bilsdale, Yorkshire, the son of William and Mary Atkinson. He was baptised on 11 November 1759.

Stephen, a farmer at Hawterley married Ann on 4 May 1782 at St Hildas, Bilsdale. Sadly both Stephen and Ann died within a couple of years of marriage but they had one child, Margaret, born in 1783 at Hawterley.

Ann Atkinson was born in Bilsdale, Yorkshire, in 1764, the daughter of William and Jane Hugill. She was baptised at St Hildas on 5 February 1764.

Ann married Stephen Atkinson, a farmer, in Bilsdale on 4 May 1782. Ann and Stephen lived at Hawterley, Bilsdale, and had one child, Margaret, born in 1784. Both Ann and Stephen died soon after marriage, Stephen in 1783 and Ann in 1784.
