She was known by her nephews as"The Dowager Duchess" and is remebered as quite intimidating although from photographs, she has a kindly face. She didn't have children of her own but doted on the nephews who survived. She was one of 10 children but from them, there were only 9 children born and only 4 survived into adulthood. Two of those children lost their mother when they were in their teens so she stepped in

When the doctor arrived, she cooking sausages for them. The doctor examined her as well and told her she had pneumonia and needed to be in hospital. Her sister Mary drove her there abd stayed with her and she died in the night.

Her death certificate records "Shook following on an accidential immersion in water"
